The Crowd Movement
Mouvement de foules · 2002–2004
Shaped energy — the individual facing the mass. The elements fixed to each surface (pins, matches, nails) become the crowd, while a single figure searches for its place within it.
“I am in a new society, and I am looking for my place.” Across these works, matter stands in for the multitude: thousands of small elements gather, swirl and press together, holding the tension between the individual mark and collective force.
Materials: matches, nails, pins, oil and acrylic.
